Healthy recipes; two words that many people associate with a complicated grocery list and several hours in the kitchen only to sit down to a meal that lacks flavour or imagination. This unfortunately is the bad press that healthy recipes have been getting for many years and it is now more untrue than ever before because the fact is, there are hundreds of great, quick and easy healthy recipes to choose from and so it does not have to be a chore.

Today marks an era where people of all ages are becoming more concerned about eating right and making healthy choices for their meals. Many of us try to find healthy recipes for foods that are good for you and taste great.  People who are health conscious tend to focus on preparing healthy low-fat dishes that are delicious and easily prepared. Chicken is a great source of protein and is low in fat.  Eating healthy chicken recipes will significantly lower the blood cholesterol, thereby improving your overall health and fitness level.  Lots of people love this delicious meat.

No matter what the recipe, choosing the right chicken is very important.  First, what are the different kinds of birds you can buy?  Well, many of us have heard of organic chicken, but don’t’ really know the benefits of an organic bird.  Organic chickens will give you firmer, full-flavored meat.  They are given a better Tone Detox than other kinds of chickens and are on what are called free ranged farms.  These are places where they are free to roam and are raised under better conditions.  You’ll find that although these birds taste better and are a better quality, they do cost more.

Let’s talk about ways to cook healthy chicken recipes.  Even though boneless and skinless chicken breasts usually cost more than their counterparts, you can still make the most of this lean meat.  You can also work with the thighs. You can shear the meat to manageable sizes and to trim extra fat as well.  The meat is considered to be the expensive portion of any meal.  But you can curb your food costs by limiting the intake of the meat and substitute it with other cheaper, nutritious ingredients like rice, potatoes and of course, vegetables.  These ingredients will not only keep help you stick to your budget, it will help you and your family enjoy a healthy meal. Of course, if you don’t want to replace the meat with other healthy ingredients, you should consider reducing your overall meat portions by using smaller portions.  Use meat shears to trim down the meat and add it to your dish to enhance it.

Here are some suggestions for quick and nutritious quick chicken recipes.

Add a steamed pot of jasmine rice to finely chopped chicken fried in olive oil.  Then add scallions, garlic, olives, tomatoes and bell peppers.   You can also add some herbs and seasonings.

Want an interesting comfort food?  Prepare searing chopped chicken with mushroom and/or garlic. Then amalgamate with Marsala sauce and layer it with crackled black peppercorns.  You can serve this as a side dish for mashed potatoes and/or boiled vegetables like broccoli, carrots, summer squash and cauliflower. 

Want a great dish to help cool you down on a hot summer’s day?  Broil your chicken, and then team it with your favorite variety of Romano and parmesan cheeses, croutons and romaine lettuce.  This dish tastes best with a nice Caesar dressing.

With a little imagination and planning you can do really great things with chicken.  Treat yourself or your family to some tasty, healthy chicken recipes with just a few ingredients and a little preparation.   Remember, you can whip up low-fat, healthy chicken recipes and  even if you don’t have an ingredient, try replacing it with a substitute and you’ll see you’ve created a brand new dish all your own.

Some of the low calorie soup recipes for fat loss are as below:

1. Cabbage Soup:

Ingredients: Half head of cut cabbage, 2 diced carrots, 4 sliced green onions, 1 can of diced tomatoes, 1 bunch celery, 1 cut green bell pepper, cooking spray, 2 tablespoon chopped parsley, salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste, water.

Directions: Put cooking spray in pot and sauté the green onions for a while, then add the bell pepper. Add cabbage and celery and carrots. After a while add water and cover. Let it simmer and cook on low heat for a long time. You can check on the water and season it with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped parsley, you can add cayenne pepper while cooking if you want it to be a little bit spicy. You can add mushrooms too. This is one of the healthy soup recipes!

2. Potato and Leek Soup:

Ingredients: 1 chopped leek, 5 diced potatoes, 500 ml vegetable stock, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 2 tablespoon chopped parsley.

Directions: Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and add leek. When it becomes slightly brown, add the potatoes and let it cook on low heat for half an hour. Stir occasionally. Now add the vegetable stock and mix well. Simmer till it thickens. Cool the soup and blend it until smooth. Pour in bowls and enjoy this low calorie healthy soup!

3. Chicken Lemon Soup:

Ingredients: 80 grams cubed skinless Chicken breast, 1 grated carrot, 1 grated celery, 4 finely chopped shallots, 800 ml chicken stock, 2 lemons, 2 tablespoon olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.

Directions: Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the carrots, shallots and celery. Add the chicken cubes. Cook for a while stirring occasionally. Add the juice of the two lemons along with the stock. Sprinkle salt and pepper and let it simmer for about 45 minutes. Enjoy this low calorie soup recipe!

4. Carrot Soup:

Ingredients: 1 tablespoon olive oil, 5-6 chopped carrots, 1 chopped onion, 10 grams of root ginger, 1 cube of vegetable stock, 3 cups water, 1 tablespoon basil, salt and pepper to taste.

Directions: Heat a pan and put oil then add onion, carrot and ginger. Cook till onion becomes soft. Make vegetable stock with the cube and water and add to the pan. Bring it to a boil and simmer for half an hour till carrots turn soft. Add salt and pepper and blend this in a mixer and add little water if required. Garnish with basil and enjoy this healthy soup recipe! It is a bright color soup and can be enjoyed with a toast.

Just eat lots of fruits and veggies, raw, as they are. That’s the healthiest you could eat. Add a hard boiled egg, or a cube or two of lowfat cheese, a slice of whole grain bread, and you’ve got a whole meal.
